Community Day on Country, Wirra Lo Wetlands

Help us bring community together on Country and celebrate First Nations culture at Wirra‑Lo Wetlands, northern Victoria.

Wirra‑Lo Wetlands Community Day on Country will bring families, Elders, schools and community groups together on Barapa Barapa Country near Kerang for a day of culture, connection and celebration. This event is all about strengthening cultural identity, building pride and creating opportunities for people to learn directly from respected First Nations knowledge holders.

The day will feature hands‑on cultural activities including boomerang making and throwing with Uncle Ron Murray, emu caller and clap stick artwork, learning tracks and symbols, a friendly game of Marngrook, traditional weaving with an Elder, face painting by a First Nations artist, and a BBQ with favourites like wattle seed scones.

Funds raised will go directly towards paying First Nations presenters for their time and cultural expertise, hiring a bus to ensure community members can attend, and purchasing food and activity supplies so the day is accessible, inclusive and full of fun for everyone.
