Eco Warriors Australia is committed to delivering safe, engaging community projects. Our COVID‑Safe Plan outlines how we protect community members, students, Elders, guest presenters and staff during all Eco Warriors Australia (EWA) activities.
Our Commitment
We follow current Victorian Department of Health guidance and adapt our programs to ensure:
- Flexible delivery options
- Priority given to outdoor, low‑risk learning environments
Outdoor‑First Delivery
Nature is our classroom and it’s also the safest place to learn.
- All EWA activities are designed for outdoor delivery wherever possible.
- If indoor delivery is required (e.g. poor weather), we use well‑ventilated spaces with open windows/doors.
- Activities are structured to naturally spread community members/ students out (rotating stations, small‑group tasks).
Ventilation & Indoor Safety
When indoor delivery is unavoidable:
- We choose large, well‑ventilated rooms.
- Windows and doors remain open where possible.
- Activities are adapted to reduce clustering around a single demonstration point.
Masks (PPE)
- Masks are optional for staff unless required by the venue/school or current health advice.
- Staff can wear masks on request or when working with vulnerable participants.
- Elders and guest presenters may request mask use in close‑contact settings.
Program Adjustments & Flexibility
If COVID‑related concerns or restrictions arise, we can:
- Move the session outdoors
- Shift to an online version of the activity (if possible)
- Reschedule
Protecting Elders & Guest Presenters
We take additional precautions when working with Elders, First Nations knowledge holders or immunocompromised presenters:
- Outdoor delivery prioritised
- Masks encouraged in close‑contact settings
- Reduced group sizes if requested
Cultural safety and wellbeing remain central to our approach.
Communication & Transparency
If a facilitator becomes unwell before a session, we notify our project partners/project venue/school immediately and offer:
- A replacement presenter
- A rescheduled date
We also follow all school‑specific COVID protocols upon arrival.
Record Keeping
Eco Warriors Australia maintains:
- Attendance lists for all activities
- Secure storage of contact details (used only for health‑related communication if required)
