Planting the Seed – Kerang

29 May 2025

We are excited to announce that we have received funding from the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal to run our Planting the Seed program with students in Kerang.

We will be working with students from Kerang South Primary School to revegetate North Street Reserve in Kerang. The project will enhance the biodiversity values of the Reserve and also help protect the native Chocolate Lily which grows in the Reserve.

Lyn Veall, Principal of Kerang South Primary School, says that the experience the children will gain from the project will broaden their education and help create stronger connections with the local environment. Traditional Owner representative Kai, who runs the Planting the Seed cultural heritage sessions, is a past Kerang South students, and is extremely excited to be working with his old school!

We’d like to thank the FRRR Strengthening Rural Communities grant program for generously funding our project, Gannawarra Shire Council’s Infrastructure and Development team and project partners Ecology and Restoration Australia.
